Description

Radiation components over a horizontal surface:
D is the Diffuse component of the radiation flow, and represents the part reflected by the atmosphere and the clouds,
B is the Beam component, i.e. the part of the radiation which directly comes from the sun,
G is the Global component corresponding to the sum of the two previous components.
Radiation components over a horizontal surface:
D: Diffuse
B: Beam
R: Reflected, i.e. the portion of the sun radiation reflected by the ground and visible by the tilted plane,
G: Global
Radiation components over a horizontal surface:
D: Diffuse,
B: Beam,
R: Reflected,
G: Global.

Description

GHI
  • standard fixed-pv installations
  • environment: for crops or forest to evaluate how much radiation they receive
  • Hot water: for the black panels (hot water)
BNI The plane is following the sun to maximize the amount of radiation received on the sensor. As a consequence, this parameter is more dedicated to
  • concentrating solar thermal installations
  • concentrating solar photovoltaic installations
GNI If the radiation flux is not concentrated but the plane is still tracking the sun, the GNI must be considered.
