The HelioClim Databases - Solar radiation values estimated from Meteosat satellites

Copyright Eumetsat 2005
HelioClim is a family of databases which comprises solar irradiance and irradiation values available at ground level. HelioClim covers Europe, Africa, the Mediterranean Basin, the Atlantic Ocean and part of the Indian Ocean (see the Meteosat image on left).

They receive Meteosat data from Eumetsat and process them in real time. They produce the databases HelioClim that can be accessed through the SoDa Service (meteorology - observations).

There are presently two available databases in the HelioClim family of the Mines ParisTech - Armines: HC-1 and HC-3. The database HC-2 is not available anymore since summer 2009. Work is on-going on the most recent database HC-3. An improved method Heliosat-4 is under preparation to process the future Meteosat images (MSG-3, approx. 2015); it will create the database HC-4.
